Your school uses ML4Schools to teach students about artificial intelligence and machine learning. This sheet explains, in plain terms, what that means for your child's information. Your school has reviewed and authorised ML4Schools for use.
What is ML4Schools?
A safe, browser-based learning platform where students learn how AI works through lessons and hands-on activities. It's made in Australia by Ninnovate Pty Ltd for secondary schools.
What information does it hold about my child?
Only what's needed for learning:
- Their name and school email
- Their year group and a school ID number
- Their learning progress: lessons completed, quiz answers, and activity in the learning tools
ML4Schools does not collect sensitive information like health, background, or religion.
How is it used?
To run your child's account, deliver lessons, let their teacher see progress and give feedback, and improve the platform using anonymous, combined statistics, and nothing else.
The things parents ask us most
- Is it sold or used for advertising? No. We never sell student information and never show advertising to students.
- Where is it stored? In Australia (Google Cloud, Sydney). Sign-in is handled by Google/Microsoft, which may check sign-in details overseas, protected by contract.
- Does the AI use my child's data? The machine-learning activities run inside the web browser on the school device. The data your child experiments with stays on that device and isn't sent to us.
- How long is it kept? For as long as your school uses ML4Schools. We securely delete it within 180 days of your school stopping, or sooner if your school asks.
- Who can see it? Your child, their teachers, and a small number of Ninnovate support staff, and no one else.
