Gmail Live lets people ask questions by voice and hear spoken answers drawn from their own inbox. It is on by default for organisations with Gemini in Workspace access, and Google AI Pro for Education is among the listed add-ons. It is limited to US users with EN-US as their language.
Check the Gemini features setting in the Admin console and decide whether Gmail Live should be on for your staff or student accounts.
For your ICT coordinator
Google says the feature is ON by default for organisations with Gemini in Workspace access and respects the existing smart features and personalization admin settings. The Google Workspace Admin Help article titled Turn Gemini features on or off for users covers the controls. It runs on Android and iOS, and first-time users are prompted to grant microphone access. Rollout starts on 15 October 2026, with up to 15 days for visibility.
